What is Nillion?

Nillion is a decentralized network focused on encrypted markets and privacy infrastructure. Its Covenants primitive allows users to seal instructions to specified conditions and post them onchain in unreadable form. When the condition is met, a threshold of independent nodes unlocks the instruction so it can execute automatically. This design keeps an order, strategy, or execution logic concealed until the relevant condition is satisfied. The $NIL utility token is described as supporting protocol fees for creating and resolving Covenants, staking for node operation and network security, and rewards for nodes that monitor conditions and settle results. Nillion’s privacy infrastructure also includes nilDB, an encrypted database that splits data across nodes while supporting computation on encrypted information, and nilAI, which encompasses privacy technologies such as the AI Virtual Machine, nada-AI, and nilTEE. The project is categorized across artificial intelligence, infrastructure, Ethereum, and privacy.
