Axelar is a blockchain designed to connect blockchains through secure interchain communication. Its stated purpose is to let decentralized application users interact with assets and applications across different chains through a single experience. Developers can use an API built atop a permissionless network that routes messages and supports network security through proof-of-stake consensus. Validators produce blocks, participate in multiparty signing, and vote on external chain states. AXL, the native token, supports governance and payment of network transaction fees to validators and tokenholders. Tokenholders can stake AXL by delegating it to a validator’s staking pool and may receive rewards less validator commission. The network can convert between AXL and destination-chain tokens behind the scenes, enabling users to pay gas once in the source-chain token. Axelar is associated with ecosystems including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Fantom, Arbitrum, and Moonbeam.
