What is Amp?

Amp (AMP) is described as a digital collateral token intended to provide instant, verifiable assurances for value transfers. Its stated purpose is to help secure transactions across asset-related applications, including networks such as Flexa. Amp presents collateralization through two main components: collateral partitions and collateral managers. Partitions can be designated to collateralize an account, application, or transaction, with balances verifiable on the Ethereum blockchain. Collateral managers are smart contracts designed to lock, release, and redirect collateral within those partitions as needed to support value-transfer activities. The project describes its design as a versatile interface for verifiable collateralization and supports predefined partition strategies. These strategies can provide specialized collateral models, including arrangements in which tokens may be staked without leaving their original address. Amp is associated with decentralized finance, payment solutions, and Ethereum ecosystem categories.
